One of my all time favorite desserts, and a fave of many of my family members: the whoopie pie!
If you are not fortunate enough to live in an area where rhubarb grows wild, and sometimes uncontrollably, then you don’t know what you’re missing! Last week, my aunt who is visiting from Texas and is originally from Southern California, told me that she had never had strawberry rhubarb pie. As you can imagine, my complete and utter shock was shortly followed with determination to be sure she had some before they headed back!! Thus, the reason for this post.
Where to begin…
My love for sweets (all things chocolate, sugar, or the like) began long before I can remember; be it M&Ms, pie, cake, etc., I love it! One of my fondest memories of my late mother was learning to make pie crust from scratch–and frequently throwing it out when it wasn’t the right consistency. Luckily, over the years I’ve “perfected” the art of the pie crust and have wasted far less than we did back in the day. After college I settled happily into a slightly domestic role, although working full time did not allow me to be in the kitchen as much as I now realize I like to be; but over time and with encouragement from family and friends I have started to bake on a larger scale–doing a few events and weddings coming up in 2015!
I’m excited to showcase–and advertise–some of my desserts and hope that you’ll enjoy them too! Please contact me with questions and upcoming events that you may need sweets for, and visit the blog again for updates and new pictures!
